The Ultimate DIY Bachelorette Goodie Bag for an EPIC NOLA Bach.

In the spirit of Fat Tuesday and Mardi Gras, let me welcome you to this post with Laissez les bons temps rouler – Let the Good Times Roll!

If you’ve found this blog, you probably googled “New Orleans or NOLA Bachelorette”, and stumbled onto my site like a drunken guest on a Bourbon Street bachelorette bar crawl. I’ve been there, and I’ve done that, and you know what? I like your style.

You know what else I’ve done? Put together a goodie bag so epic that it kept all hangovers at bay. So let me help you with a fabulous run down of how to create a D-I-Y goodie bag for guests that won’t break the bank. I’m talking about less than $10 a bag. Don’t believe me? – Keep reading. You’re going to be amazed.

The Essentials

DISCLAIMER: When we went to NOLA for a bachelorette party in January of 2022, Covid was winding down, and the bars all required proof of vaccination as well as some light social distancing. The lessons we learned from Covid are still alive and well. So when making a goodie bag, especially when traveling to a new place, remember that the health and wellness of your guests should always be at the forefront of what you pack.

Our guest count was 10 feral ladies and 1 banging bride, so in total, I made 11 goodie bags. Knowing how expensive putting that many bags together could be, I did my homework, and let me just tell you – don’t sleep on DOLLAR TREE. Yes, Dollar Tree.

Back in 2022, everything was still a dollar, but even with the .25 cent hike, you can still find some amazing items at a fraction of the cost of what you would get shopping on Amazon or even your local drugstore.

My other pro tip, check your local wholesale clubs. Sometimes you can get deeply discounted extras when buying in bulk.

Here’s what I packed for everyone and where I found the items.

  • The Goodie Bag – Dollar Tree – kraft gift bags come in a pack of 3 and you can personalize each bag with a tag or by writing the guest’s name on the front. (Purchased 4 packs – total cost $4)
  • Antibacterial Wet Wipes – Dollar Tree (back in 2022, they came in a box of 16. I gave each guest 2 travel wipes – I bought two boxes – total cost $2)
    • In 2025 the same wipes come in a larger pack with 40 wipes for $1.25 – not too bad. Sometimes you can find the individual travel size box of 16 but you have to hunt.
  • Purell Antibacterial Hand Sanitizer – Dollar Tree (because of their size these were sold 2 for $1 – total cost $5.50)
  • Extra Gum – Dollar Tree (came in a pack of 4 – bought 3 packs for a total of $3)
  • Kleenex – Dollar Tree (came in a pack of 6 tissues – bought 2 packs – total cost $2)
  • Lip Gloss – Dollar Tree (I found a pack of 5 flavored lip glosses from Smackers, I ended up buying 2 packs, and I didn’t give myself a lip gloss – total cost $2)
  • Tums – Dollar Tree (these were sold in a pack of 3. I bought four packs – total cost $4)
    • In 2025, finding the brand name Tums at Dollar Tree is hit or miss, so I would defer to purchasing the three-pack on Amazon.
  • Curad Alcohol Prep Pads – Dollar Tree (the box of 100 wipes was $1, so I was generous when packing this in the goodie bag)
  • Band-Aids – Dollar Tree (I went with a generic brand that had 50 assorted sizes in a box – total cost $1)
  • Team Bride goofy glasses – Dollar Tree (each pack came with 6 paper glasses – bought 2 packs – total cost $2)
  • G.U.M. Softpicks – Dollar Tree (these came in a pack of 5 – total cost $2)
    • Like I said before – Dollar Tree can be hit or miss with brands, especially for this post because it’s been 3 years since I made the bags, but in 2025 I’ve heard good things about the Guru Nanda brand – and for $1.25 – you get 20 picks.
  • Goody Brand Hair Ties – Dollar Tree (one pack of 20 hair ties was enough for the whole crew – total cost $1)
  • Advil – Amazon – (the box I got came with 50 travel packs that had two advil each – total cost $9.98)
  • Onyx Strip it Down Nail Polish Wipes – TJ Maxx & Marshalls (you can usually find these close to the registers, and they are sold in a 20-count bag or if you are super lucky a 25-count. These retail around $6 a bag)
  • Neutrogena Travel Size Make-Up Wipes – Amazon (this comes in a 20-count bag – I purchased one for the group and at the time I paid $5.96)
  • Emergen-C Super Orange Drink Mix – Sam’s Club (price may vary)
  • Liquid IV – Sam’s Club (price may vary)

If you are keeping track – the total spent on everything for the bags is roughly *** drum roll please *** $51.44 [excluding the Sam’s Club items].

To account for inflation, and what I could have spent at Sam’s Club, I’m going to be generous and round up the total cost of materials to make the bags up to $65.00.

When you divide $65 by 11 people, I spent a grand total of $5.90 on each goodie bag. That’s less than $10 …… TAH DAH!!

There you have it. You can absolutely D-I-Y a well-thought-out goodie bag with items that your guests will actually use on the trip without having to break the bank. All it takes is some deal hunting and bulk buying. Happy Hunting!!
